A retired video journalist makes £ 17 million in profit after his Bitcoin firm rises in value.

Peter Wall is one of the big winners of a big rally in Argo Blockchain, the listed cryptocurrency miner that he has been running since the beginning of last year.

Shares changed hands for less than 10p as late as November, but they soared to 238p in the midst of a frenzied feeding frenzy for Bitcoin and related assets. Argo Blockchain’s market value was recently over £ 1 billion.

Wall, 45, was part of the team that founded the company in 2017 and launched the Bitcoin miner on the London market in 2018. The Canadian took over the management of Argo Blockchain after the departure of Jonathan Bixby and Mike Edwards.
