Simon McDougall, Deputy Information Commissioner, has confirmed that the investigation into the real-time bidding and adtech industries has resumed. The investigation was suspended in May 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The ICO is planning a series of audits, primarily for digital market platforms, and will issue assessment notices to certain companies over the next few months. You will also review the role of data brokers within the ad tech ecosystem.
Mr McDougall said, “All organizations working in the adtech space should urgently consider how they use personal information.”
