The UK’s largest digital skills careers fair is set to return to Manchester this year after it has been estimated that currently one in ten jobs is in the technical field.
Manchester Digital’s annual Digital Skills Festival will take place next month and will assess the impact of Brexit and the Covid pandemic on the sector and its labor practices.
The aim is to connect talent from the north with some of the largest tech employers in the city region – as many continue to grow and hire new employees.
These include Auto Trader, Bentley, musicMagpie, and the ICO.

Over 250 jobs, internships and internships are offered throughout the day in areas such as development, data, security, design, project management, digital marketing, UX and more.
Katie Gallagher, General Manager at Manchester Digital said, “The pandemic has changed the way we do business and the impact on some industries will be permanent. However, with many companies trying to digitize and relocate their operations online, and remote working becomes increasingly important, it has opened up new opportunities for many parts of the tech industry.
“While there is no doubt that the picture is nuanced and not the case for every digital and technology company, there is generally still a strong demand for the right people to fill open roles – both technical and non-technical.
“This means that we see many perspectives for those starting a career in the industry or perhaps looking to move from industries to the industry that have been hard hit by the pandemic. These opportunities will be showcased on Talent Day – where we show people how to get into tech, whether or not they’ve worked on it before. “
The five-day online event takes place online and includes the UK’s largest digital skills career fair, Talent Day, bringing together 1,500 students from schools, colleges and universities and anyone interested in a career in the industry with respected industry professionals and employers.
A recent Tech Nation report revealed Manchester to be the fastest growing tech hub in Europe – with investments increasing from £ 48m from 2018 to 2019 by 277% to £ 181m.

It will be released on February 8th and will also reveal the results of the Digital Skills Audit 2021.
The audit, conducted in collaboration with the Institute of Coding, will provide a national view of the impact of COVID on growth and jobs, as well as providing a deeper insight into the most sought-after technology roles and the ongoing skills shortage.
