LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, Aug 29, 2021 / – The global job site, Indeed and Blockchain Algorithms today launched a neurodiversity “toolkit” to help companies become more inclusive when it comes to hiring.

Neurodiversity refers to the wide range of differences in brain function and behavioral characteristics of individuals and includes autism, ADHD, Asperger’s syndrome, dyslexia, and dyspraxia.

A best practice approach is for this type of diversity to be recognized and respected as well as other differences in the workplace – such as gender, race or sexual orientation – in order to ensure an inclusive and optimal work environment.

The toolkit includes explanations of neurodiversity, practical advice for hiring managers and HR teams, and an exemplary job description. It is also advised that employers who involve neurodiverse employees in the hiring process will benefit from higher productivity, more creativity and better retention rates.

It shows that some neurological disorders can improve employee performance in certain areas: for example, many people with dyslexia have improved global visuospatial skills that can be beneficial in jobs that require three-dimensional thinking such as molecular biology, engineering, and Computer graphics. The toolkit provides practical recommendations on how companies can change their hiring practices to make them more inclusive.
